Battle of the Back Court - 1st Match up Round 1
Team A-Game – Tyrone Johnson
3z PleaZe – Sekou Harris
Team A-Game – Mike Price
Team A-Game – Anthony Baskerville
3z PleaZe – Allen Brown
Tyrone Johnson out distance himself from the rest of the
guards in the 1st game of the tournament. Johnson scored the most points (12) shooting an efficient 67%
from the floor. Johnson was also a
perfect 4 for 4 from the foul line. The all-important assist to turnover ratio
for a guard is critical. Johnson had
5:1 assist to turnover ratio further exemplifying his floor generalship
command. To add to his stat line Tyrone grabbed 5 rebounds.
A distance 2nd was Sekou “Trey Swish”
Harris. Harris scored the second most
points out of all the guards but his turnover ratio doomed his chance in the 1st
“BATTLE OF THE BACK COURT”.

Bada Bing – Derrick Gordon
Bada Bing – Mike Gordon
South Side – Antoine Patterson
Antoine Patterson had one of the best performances in the
Gee-Gee Brown Tournament last year knocking down 6 of 7 3-pointers in one
game. Bada Bing did their scouting
report and did not give Antoine any thing easy. Patterson was at a disadvantage with the Gordon brothers teaming
up to combine for 32 points, which outscored the entire South Side team for the
game. Derrick scored a game high 17
points in this match up over the 2 former teammates of the 2004 State
Championship team. Derrick dropped off
a game high 5 assists to show off his point guard skills. Mike and Antoine did more shooting than
passing as both 2004 players combined for 0 assists.
Mike Gordon followed Derrick as the second highest scorer in
the game with 15 points while Antoine scored a team high 13 points for South
Side. Mike made a push to overtake his
younger brother by exemplifying his defensive side with 5 steals but Derrick
came out on top with a more balance statistical performance.
Game 1 advantage goes to Derrick Gordon

Battle of the Back Court – 3rd Match up Round 1
No head to head competition in this round as Rush Hour did
battle with last year’s runner-up, the Blazin Bums who did not have any players
from Plainfield. The back court of
Anthony Nelson and Andre Dabney proved to be too much as Rush Hour won their
opening round game. Nelson and Dabney did not stand out in this game but were
unselfish and both gave a solid performance.
Dabney scored more points but Nelson dished out more
assists, had less turnovers, and grabbed more rebounds than his counter part.
Game 3 advantage goes to Anthony Nelson
4 rebounds
3 assists**************************************
