1,000+ point scorer, Arguably one of the best dunkers in
Plainfield history. Several years after Anthony went on to college, the
Cardinal Fanatic was in Irvington attending a girl’s basketball game where a
fan from Irvington said, “That kid Anthony still has people talking about that
ally-oop baseline dunk that shook the gymnasium”. One of the best assist distributors in the history of Plainfield
basketball - At one point as a freshman at the University of Niagara, Anthony
was rated as a top 10-assist leader in the Nation. 6th leading scorer in Plainfield history.
#17 – Jerrell Thompson – “2007”
A scoring machine, an offensive juggernaut – 1,000+ point scorer – 3rd
leading scorer in Plainfield history. Went on to earn a Division 1 basketball scholarship.
#18 – Jahmal Lane – “2012”
One of the top defensive guards ever out of Plainfield – The
only player to earn 4 Sectional State Championships in the history of
Plainfield basketball – No guards has more rejections than Jahmal.
#19 – Rico Parenti – “1952”
The legend – Went on to the University of Seattle where he
played with NBA top 50 Player Elgin Baylor – The man that started the mythical
history of guard play in Plainfield. The Plainfield High School Gymnasium was named after him. The first coach to bring a Basketball State Championship to Plainfield.
#20 – William Johnson – “1980”
The purest shooter in the history of Plainfield Basketball –
If a 3-point line existed in his playing days, Johnson would average 30+ a
game. Johnson deep jump shots were a
thing of beauty. The jam-packed
gymnasium would rise on every Johnson shot, with all the fans raising their arms as
for the signal for a 3-pointer. Who
would know that years later this would be the signal for a 3-point attempt! BTW – Johnson shots was always all net!
