Both teams made 1 shot beyond the arc. Plainfield’s sophomore Jachai Simmons and West Orange’s Isaiah Scott were the only players to connect from deep.

Plainfield connected on 13 field goals below the arc/in the paint compared to 8 by West Orange. Denzel Christian connected on 12 points below the arc to lead Plainfield

West Orange took better care of the ball by committing 14 turnovers compared to the Cardinals 21.

A key statistical advantage in the game was the protection of the paint. Plainfield rejected 11 shots compared to West Orange’s 0. Sophomore Ahmad Baker rejected 8 shots to lead the Cardinals.

Plainfield dished out 6 assists compared to West Oranges 2. Wade Brown led the Cardinals with 3 assists.
Steals – West Orange +4
West Orange picked up 12 steals compared to the Cardinals 8. Isaiah Scott led West Orange with 3 steals.

This is where the game was won. Plainfield minimize West Orange shooting attempts to one and done. Plainfield grabbed a whopping 40 boards (15 offensive) compared to West Orange’s 20. Denzel Christian led the way with 13 rebounds.
The Cardinal Fanatic Efficiency Players of the game
1) Plainfield – Sophomore Ahmad Baker 6’8” – {ER-19}
Ahmad only scored 2 points but the Efficiency rating is not all about scoring. Baker wiped the glass clean by turning away a potential 16 points by West Orange. Ahmad rejected a game high 8 shots. Ahmad also grabbed 9 rebounds, picked up 2 steals, and dropped off an assist.
2) Plainfield – Senior Denzel Christian 6’6” – {ER-14}
Denzel earned Hoop Group Player of the game with his double-double performance. Christian dropped a game high 13 points and grabbed a game high 13 rebounds.
3) Plainfield – Senior Denzel Johnson 6’1” – {ER-13}
Johnson dropped 9 of his 12 points during the decisive final period. DJ shot 80% from below the arc and 80% from the free throw line. Johnson also grabbed 3 boards and picked up 2 steals.
4) West Orange –Junior Isaiah Scott 6’0” – {ER-5}
Isaiah earned Hoop Groups Player of the Game. Scott scored a team high 11 points and picked up a game high 3 steals. Scott also picked up 3 boards from his guard position.
5) Plainfield –Sophomore Jachai Simmons 6’5” – {ER-5}
In his first varsity game, Jachai shot 50% from below the arc and 50% from beyond the arc. Simmons also rejected 2 shots including a 2 handed pin against the glass.
The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.
