A Fanatic Summation of the Plainfield vs Scotch Plains-Fanwood Game

Where did the Cardinals win this game?

        Points in the Paint – Plainfield scored 50 points below the arc on 60% shooting while Scotch Plains-Fanwood scored 24 points on 35% shooting. Denzel Christian, Taylor Plummer and sophomore Christian Cook all contributed with their pull up jumpers to help the Cardinals in this category.

        Rebounds – Plainfield used their height advantage to control the glass.  The Cardinals grabbed 37 rebounds to Scotch Plains-Fanwood 13.  It was great to see that 6’6” junior Denzel Christian is getting his legs back after sitting most of the season with an injury.  Denzel grabbed 7 rebounds to help the Cardinals on the glass.

        Sharing the Ball – One of the hardest things to do is stop a team that shares the ball.  The un-selfish Cardinals dropped off 12 assists compared to the Raiders 4. Denzel Christian and Taylor Plummer contributed with their ball distribution.

        Defense – The Block Party continues.  The Cardinals rejected 12 shot attempts to control the paint on the defensive side of the ball.  Denzel Christian re-certified is Block Party Crew membership along with Taylor Plummer.

2) Plainfield – Senior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-20}
Sears Inc. has achieved elite status and has now been promoted to the Board of Directors in Plainfield Basketball History.  Sears dropped his 1,000+ points to be the 11th player to join the exclusive club*.  Regarded by some as one of the most dominant big man to play in a Cardinal uniform, his statistical performances cannot be disputed.  One of the top rebounder, rejecter and intimidator in the state, Sears has balanced academics to achieve Ivy League status that may even be more impressive than what he has done on the basketball courts.  The future Businessman demonstrated how he has cornered the paint industry.  Sears shot at a 50% clip to score 13 points down low, grabbed 8 rebounds, dropped off 3 assists and rejected a game high 4 shot attempts. Sears committed 2 turnovers to complete a historic Efficient night.

3) Plainfield – Senior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-19}

Trey Swish shot an Efficient 71% from below the arc and 100% from the free-throw line to be one of four Cardinals to score in double figures for the 2nd consecutive game.  Sekou grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out a game high 6 assists.
