Where did the Cardinals lose this game?
–
Points in the Paint – The Cardinals missed as many shots below
the arc as St. Patrick made. Plainfield
shot 44% below the arc compared to St. Patrick’s luke warm 71%. St. Patrick made 20 field goals compared to
the Cardinals 15 to give the Celtics a 10-point advantage. St. Patrick’s Elijah Davis converted 57% of
his shots below the arc and Dana Raysor converted 67% of his shots below the
arc to help the Celtics gain the advantage in this statistical category.
–
3-Pointers – The Cardinals shot their worst 3-point percentage
since the introduction of the 3-point line in high school basketball. After several games of shooting lights out,
the Cardinals connected on 8% of their shots beyond the arc. St. Patrick did not light it up either but
their 33% shooting from beyond gave the Celtics a slight advantage. The
Cardinals made 1 3-pointer while the Celtics made 3 3-pointers to gain a
6-point advantage in this statistical category.
–
Sharing the Ball – After averaging nearly 16 assists a game,
the Cardinals only dished out an uncharacteristic 6 assists. St. Patrick distributed the ball well as
they dished out 13 assists.
–
Foul shooting – Although the Cardinals shot 73% from the free
throw line, the foul shots that were missed early in the game came back to bite
them. The Cardinals shot a dismal 63%
from the free throw line in the 1st half. Although the Cardinals had the advantage in free throws made, the
7 miss free throws for the game proved to be an area where a different result
of the final score could have been achieved.
St. Patrick shot a sizzling 86% from the free throw line and only missed
1 free throw for the entire game.
Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5
1) Plainfield – Senior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-24}
Justin did not shoot his normal high percentage from the
field so he focused on his defensive efforts and giving his team 2nd
opportunities on the offensive end.
Sears grabbed a game high 13 rebounds of which 11 were offensive. Sears also dished out a team high tying 2
assists (Sekou Harris also with 2 assists), picked up 2 steals, and rejected a
game high 3 shots.
2) Plainfield – Senior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-21}
Dii’Jon performed admirably scoring a team high tying 15

Dii’Jon shot 84% from the field and 84% from the free throw line to help
keep the Cardinals from shooting an even lower percentage for the game. Dii’Jon also grabbed 3 rebounds and picked
up a game high 6 steals.
3) St. Patrick – Junior DeAndre Bembry 6’6” {ER-20}
The North Carolina native shot a blazing 91% (10 for 11)
from below the arc to lead the Celtics to victory. Dr. Dre also grabbed 3
rebounds, dished out an assist and rejected a shot.
4) St. Patrick – Junior Jared Nickens 6’6” {ER-14}
With his normally automatic 3-point shot not falling, Jared
shot 60% from below the arc and was perfect from the foul line to score 11
points. Jared was in the “Nick” of time
when hit a 1st period buzzer beater from 30 ft. Nickens also grabbed 4 rebounds, had 1 steal
and dished out 3 assists.
5) St. Patrick – Junior Darrian Collins 6’0” {ER-9}
Collins played the most minutes for his team, as he is
critical to the operations of the Celtic Empire. Collins was perfect from the field below the arc, shot 50% from
beyond the 3-point line and was perfect from the foul line. Collins grabbed 1 rebound, picked up 3
steals, and dished out a game high 5 assists.
