Cardinal Fanatic @ The Gee-Gee Brown Tournament Summation

While getting prepared for the football season, the Cardinal Fanatic took his statistical analytical mind to catch some action at the 15th annual Gee-Gee Brown tournament. With teams from as far north as Syracuse to as far south as Fayetteville, North Carolina, it looked like there would be some serious balling going on.

WOW!!! A lot of above the rim action, multiple buzzer beaters, and exceptional sharp shooters from beyond the horizon was on display.

The backcourt mate of Mike Gordon during the 2004 Plainfield sectional championship run, Antoine “AP” Paterson put on a blazing display from deep. “AP” connected on 6 consecutive treys.

Ryan Litke of Porterplus Realty was nailing bombs several feet from the half court line. His deep accurate shooting lifted Porterplus over Team X in an exciting over time game.

Porterplus Realty’s Semaj Inge and Rush Hour’s Chase Plummer put on a dunk fest and earned Cardinal Fanatic unofficial award of Dr. Dunkenstien.

Team X was the most perplexing team in the tournament. From the field they could not miss, and from the 3-point line they prove to be the most accurate statistically. On the other hand they could not hit the side of a 4-wall room from the foul line, which proved to be their demise.

The biggest crowd of the tournament was on the 2nd day of the 3-day double elimination tournament. Bada Bing made up of multiple local street ball legends from the Plainfield area vs. Coach Hewy and Rush Hour. Rush Hour brought former high school standouts, Jarrell Thompson, Anthony Nelson, Rodney Tucker Jr., John Strickland, and Plainfield native Chase Plummer. With over 500 in attendance the legends of Bada Bing held off the rising stars of Rush Hour in a very entertaining game.

Bada Bing eventually won out over the Blazin Bums. Blazin Bums only lossed to one team in the entire tournament, and those two losses where to Bada Bing. Bada Bing finishes the tournament undefeated and repeats as the Champion.

DeShawn of Bada Bing saved his best performance for the last game. DeShawn dropped a sizzling game high 30 points to earn tournament MVP.

Mike Gordon got my vote for Mr. Efficiency for his all around performance in leading Bada Bing to the championship.
