A Fanatic Summation of the Group 3 North Championship - Group 3 State Semi-Final - Teaneck vs Plainfield

Plainfield 62
Teaneck 60

Plainfield scored 18 field goals below the arc while Teaneck scored 16. This gave Plainfield a 4 point advantage. Teaneck scored 7 3-pointers compared to Plainfield’s 1. This gave Teaneck an 18 point advantage in the 3-point category. With Plainfield facing a 14 point deficit from the floor, the Cardinals made up the difference from the free throw line. Plainfield connected on 23 free throws compared to Teaneck’s 7. This gave the Cardinals a 16 point advantage from the charity line and thus the final difference of the game of 2 points.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? The Cards won on rebounds, interior paint defense, zone defense and getting to the basket on the offensive end. The Cardinals grabbed 31 rebounds compared to Teaneck’s 26. Teaneck was actually out rebounding the Cardinals early in the game but our big men were able to exploit their big men (6’10” junior Neville Fincher and 6’8” senior Will Thompson) them with their speed. This forced Teaneck to go a smaller unit and the Cardinals then took control of the boards. The Cardinals had another game with double digit rejections (10). This turned away a potential 20 points for Teaneck. The Zone defense stymied Teaneck’s high scoring offense. Teaneck could not get any clear 3-point shooting opportunities as Allen Brown, Sekou Harris, and Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan patrolled the perimeter in the zone defense. With Teaneck forcing their game from the perimeter, and 6’6” sophomore Denzel Christian helping Justin Sears and Dii’Jon to throw another “BLOCK PARTY” the Cardinals were able to control the game early and get a double digit lead. The biggest factor was the foul shooting discrepancy. The Cardinals took 38 free throws compared to Teaneck’s 11. The Highwaymen took many of their shots from the perimeter due to interior defenders of the Cardinals. On the other end the Cardinals only attempted 2 3-pointers for the game. The Cards consistently attacked the basket and thus was able to get to the charity line. Sekou Harris led the way by scoring a game high 19 points on 63% shooting below the arc, connected on 75% of his free throws and connected on his only 3-point attempt.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Junior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-21}
Dii’Jon seems to play better against bigger and taller teams. Dii’Jon used his versatility of playing the perimeter or interior to exploit the Teaneck defensive scheme. Dii’Jon scored 18 points on 55% shooting from the field along with 75% shooting from the free throw line. Dii’Jon also grabbed 5 rebounds and rejected a game high tying 3 rejections (Denzel Christian & Justin Sears also with 3 rejections).

2) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-21}
Justin actually had a sub-par game for his standards. But he admittedly gives credit to his team mates (Dii’Jon for this game) for stepping up to help the Cards eek out the victory against the 2nd highest rated public school team in the state. But Sears still had a solid game by earning another double-double performance. Sears scored 13 points and grabbed a game high 12 rebounds. Sears also added to his stat line by dropping of a team high 4 assists and blocking a game high tying 3 shots.

3) Teaneck – Junior Chris Jones 6’4” {ER-15}
Chris led Teaneck in scoring. Jones scored 14 points on 67% shooting below the arc and 40% shooting from the 3-point line.

4) Teaneck – Junior Branden Davis 6’5” {ER-14}
Branden scored 10 points of which he was perfect (2-2) from the 3-point line. Branden used his quickness and leaping ability to lead the team in rebounds with 8.

5) Teaneck – Junior DeQuan Ross 6’2” {ER-13}
DeQuan shot 67% from behind the arc, dropped 3 assists, and had a game high tying 4 steals (Teaneck’s Anthony Upshaw also with 4 steals). DeQuan committed only 1 turnover for the entire game.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.

A Fanatic Summation of the Group 3 Section 2 Finals - Mendham vs Plainfield

Mendham 81
Plainfield 87

Plainfield scored 27 field goals below the arc while Mendham scored 18. This gave Plainfield an 18-point advantage. Mendham scored 8 3-pointers compared to Plainfield’s 5 3-pointers. This gave Mendham a 9-point advantage in the 3-point category. Mendham connected on 21 free throws compared to Plainfield’s 18. The long distance shooting gave another advantage for Mendham of 3 points but it was not enough to overcome the Cardinals huge advantage in the field goal department and thus giving the Cardinals the 6-point victory in double overtime.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Rebounds, interior paint play, timely defense and clutch shooting by the unlikeliest of players. The Cardinals grabbed 35 rebounds compared to Mendham’s 24. The Cardinals 2nd point opportunities was the difference as the Cardinals grabbed 18 offensive rebounds. The Cardinals turned away 16 potential points with their 8 rejections. No doubt if these timely blocks were not made, the outcome would be much different. The harassing defense of Delano Mullings, Sekou Harris, Allen Brown, and Vaughn Anderson were crucial in disrupting the strategical offensive sets Mendham ran. Mendham sliced the Cardinals defense like a block of soft cheese but when it counted (4th period, 1st & 2nd overtime) the defense rose to the occasion. The Cards were able to get 12 steals and created an additional 10 unforced turnovers. Vaughn Anderson was pivotal as his 3-point shot let the air out of the hostile fans of Mendham in the 2nd overtime to create a breathable 5-point lead that Mendham never recovered from. Delano Mullings along with Vaughn put a stamp on the game by nailing 5 out of 6 free throws.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-47}**
WOW!!! That explains it all. In order to get a better efficiency rating than some one that put up 41 points (Mendham’s Tori Vicarisi) you must have done a whole lot of other things. Sears gave one of the greatest all-time performances since Kenny Fields (one of my top 5 all time Plainfield players) put up 21 points in 5 minutes against Atlantic City back in 1980! Sears carried the Cardinals Scoring 24 points on 69% shooting from the field. So you may say ho-hum but matched that with a 20-rebound effort (star ledger had him for 26) which 11 were offensive rebounds. This gave Sears his patented double-double performance (a 20 – 20 performance to be more specific) but much more would be needed for the Cardinals to pull this one out. Sears flirted with a triple double and missing it by 3 rejections. Justin smacked away 7 shots (should have been at least 8 – called for a questionable goal tending which sent Coach Lubreski through the ROOF)!!! Justin also picked up 3 steals (one for a coast to coast dunk AND ONE!) and dropped off 1 assist. All this activity and only 2 turnovers for the game – (Did not say he was perfect – LOL!!!).

2) Mendham – Senior Tori Vicarisi 6’4” {ER-35}
What a performance!! I though I was having a flash back of when Kelly Tripuka (Bloomfield) and Rodney Tucker (Plainfield) were battling in a Sectional playoff game back in 76! Tori gave his best Tripuka impersonation as he dropped an eye popping 41 points! With his dipsy doodle ambidextrous shooting ability, Tori connected for 53% shooting from the floor and 82% shooting from the free throw line. Tori also gave an impressive double-double performance by grabbing 13 rebounds. Tori V finished off his stat line with 3 assists that were beautifully executed back door passes that only Joe Montana could make. Tori’s offensive explosion was impressive! To appreciate his performance you must consider he was giving up nearly 4 inches. On any other opponent he may have hit the half-century mark in points! This is the most points scored against a Cardinal team in recent memory and needs to be verified. Thirst for Knowledge, please verify!

3) Mendham – Senior Drew Jacob 6’3” {ER-21}
The slick sharp shooting Jacob was deadly from the field. Jacob shot 71% from below the arc. This was accomplished because of his outside threat in which he shot 50% from behind the arc. His back door cutting was timely and even coach Pete Carril would have applauded on how efficiently it was accomplished. Drew also was perfect from the line to tally 18 points for the game and play the role of Robin to team mate Tori Vicarisi. Drew also dished out 3 assists of his own from the guard position and picked up 3 steals.

4) Plainfield – Junior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-16}
The Cardinals next in line inherent legendary guard provided the floor generalship that guided the Cardinals to one of the most exciting games of the 21st century. Harris shot at a 50% clip below the arc with his nifty drives and pull up jumper to tally 17 points. Sekou also picked 4 steals and dropped a game high 5 assists.

5) Plainfield – Junior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-13}
Dii’Jon “Past the Mustard Please!!” Allen-Jordan is turning heads around the state. The 6’6” junior is blossoming into a perimeter player with a down low presence when needed. Allen-Jordan displayed his versatility when it was needed most with his mid range jump shot or his rim rattling dunks. Dii’Jon dropped 19 points, had 1 rejection, and a game high 5 steals. Dii’Jon stat line might have been more impressive but he could not finish the last over time session due to an injury.

**This breaks the record {ER-40} set by Kyrie Irving against Plainfield in the 2010 Union County Finals

A Fanatic Summation of the Group 3 Section 2 Semi-Finals - Rahway vs Plainfield Game

National Anthem at Rahway H.S.

Plainfield scored 23 field goals below the arc (on 64% shooting below the arc) while Rahway scored 16. This gave Plainfield a 14 point advantage. Plainfield and Rahway both scored 2 3-pointers which kept the difference in points at 14. Plainfield was able to expand the total difference in the game of 18 points by connecting on 14 free throws while Rahway connected on 10.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Lieutenant Lubreski is a battlefield technician that morphs his battalion to the task in hand. Lubreski defensive sets confused Rahway after every time out and the Chiefs could never get any long stretch of an offensive momentum. The Cards seem to have switch up their normal deliberate strategy and went to a more up tempo. Believe it or not the Cards out hustled and out ran Rahway, who uses the same strategy to make them the 3rd hottest team in the county behind the #1 team in the nation, St. Patrick and the #1 public school team in the state, Linden. Other factors that help the Cardinals win was the advantage in the interior paint. The Cards grabbed 37 rebounds to Rahway’s 19. The “BLOCK PARTY CREW” continued their partying ways by rejecting 7 shots which were led by Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 3 rejections. Another plus was the play of the reserves. Delano Mullings hit a back breaking 3 which crushed any come back hopes for the Chiefs. The rugged enforcer, Chad Lewis used his 6’4” 215 lb frame to grab 5 rebounds when the key starters were in foul trouble. Vaughn Anderson defensive effort and up tempo play provided an added spark to wear down the Chiefs. Jahmal Lane came off the bench to give the Cards another offensive option which was a major plus.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-26}
Justin contributions for the Cardinals to win always seem to be ordinary. But at the end of the day when his statistical contributions are tallied up, it shows something more than ordinary. Sears scored a game high tying 14 points (Rahway’s Hakeem Kornegay also with 14 points) on 56% shooting from the floor. Sears gained another double-double effort by grabbing 11 rebounds. Sears versatility at 6’8” was shown by him dropping a game high 5 assists. His effort is not just offensive. On the defensive side of the ball Justin picked up 2 steals and rejected 2 shots.

2) Plainfield – Sophomore Denzel Christian 6’6” {ER-19}
The 6’6” sophomore scored his highest efficiency rating of his varsity career in a playoff game. Denzel scored 9 points on 100% shooting from the floor. Denzel also grabbed 6 rebounds, 1 steal, and you guessed it – 2 rejections. Denzel has also improved on keeping control of the ball as he committed only 1 turnover for the game.

3) Plainfield – Junior Jahmal Lane 6’3” {ER-17}
Lane left his ego at the door and responded in a big way as he earned Cardinal Fanatic reserve player of the game. Lane responded scoring 12 points on perfect shooting (5 – 5) from below the arc. Lane also grabbed 5 rebounds and dropped 2 assists. His defensive effort does not show up on the stat line but many of the 21 turnovers by Rahway were due to Lane’s intensity on the defensive end.

4) Rahway – Junior JaQuan Mathews 6’0” {ER-12}
While the Cardinals focus their defensive efforts on Hakeem and Myron, JaQuan took advantage of open looks. JaQuan scored 9 points on 100% shooting below the arc.

5) Plainfield – Junior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-11}
Sekou “Buzzer Beater” Harris continues to mystify with his silky buzzer beaters. Recruiting sources have noted his proficiency of connecting on big shots. Sekou tallied 13 points which included an 80% shooting effort from the foul line. Sekou also grabbed 3 rebounds, dropped 3 assists, and picked up a steal.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.

A Fanatic Summation the State Sectional Quarter Finals - Somerville vs Plainfield Game

Somerville Student Fanatics!!

Plainfield and Somerville both scored 14 field goals below the arc. Plainfield scored 5 3-pointers compared to Somerville’s 2. This gave Plainfield a 9 point advantage in shooting behind the arc. Plainfield connected on 15 free throws while Somerville connected on 13 which gave the Cardinals a 2 point advantage and the final difference in the final score of 11 points.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? The Cards reverted back to what they do best. Clean the glass and throw a party! Jahmal Lane and Justin Sears combined to play the roll of Mr. Windex by combining for 21 rebounds. The Block Party Crew was back in full effect as Lane, Sears, Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan and Denzel Christian all had multiple rejections. Somerville’s excellent team foul shooting (13 – 13) kept the Cardinals from running away with the game.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-24}
Sears is not your ordinary fly by night mom and pop store. When you need it, Sears provides it. Justin came up big when needed the most. Justin earned his biggest double-double effort to ward off the stubborn Pioneers from Somerville. Justin scored a game high 19 points on 54% shooting from the floor. Justin completed his double-double effort by grabbing a game high 13 rebounds. Sears also led the “BLOCK PARTY CREW” with a game high tying 3 rejections (Jahmal Lane also with 3 rejections). Justin also dropped a couple of assists and picked up a steal to complete his impressive stat line.

2) Somerville – Senior Steve Garfi 6’0” {ER-20}
Garfi gutsy effort late in the game kept the Pioneers in reach for pulling the upset. The sharp shooting guard scored 14 points on 60% shooting below the arc, perfect from the tri-fecta and perfect (5-5) from the free-throw line. Steve also had a game high 3 steals and dropped 2 assists.

3) Plainfield – Junior Jahmal Lane 6’3” {ER-17}
Lane showed his 3 year varsity composure by not trying to do too much but do what was needed for the team. The original “BLOCK PARTY CREW” member rejected a game high tying 3 shots. Lane also was efficient in the shooting department by scoring 8 points on 60% shooting from the floor and 100% shooting from the free throw line. To even add more to Jahmal’s stat line, he grabbed 8 rebounds and dropped 2 assists.

4) Somerville – Senior Jake Grady 6’5” {ER-16}
Jake carried the load for the Pioneers as he battled in the paint with the Plainfield big men. Jake scored a team high 15 points and grabbed a team high 8 rebounds. Jake was perfect from the foul line, dropped 2 assists, and had 1 rejection.

5) Plainfield – Junior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-13}
Sekou Harris provided what we call the “CHECK MATE” move in the first period by connecting on back to back treys to open up the scoring. Harris scored 16 points with 12 points coming from 57% shooting from behind the arc. Harris also had a team high tying 2 steals (Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan also with 2 steals) and officially joined the BLOCK association with a rejection.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.

A Fanatic Summation of the 1st round of the State Sectional Playoffs - Plainfield vs Chatham Game

Plainfield scored 25 field goals below the arc compared to Chatham’s 9 field goals. This gave Plainfield a 32 point advantage in 2 point field goals made. Plainfield scored 4 3-pointers compared to Chatham’s 6. This gave Chatham a 6 point advantage in shooting behind the arc. Both teams connected on 5 free throws.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Although the Cardinals were able to out rebound their opponent, it was not their usual dominant performance. The Block Party Crew seemed to take an in-house personal day as the Cardinals only came up with 2 rejections which were far below their double digit average over the last several games. Chatham’s 6’4” sophomore Joe Timmes did an excellent job getting position under the boards to hold off any dominant performance by the Cards. The Cardinals on the ball defensive effort did pick up the slack. The Cardinals combined to force 16 turnovers with their in your face man to man defense.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Senior Allen Brown 6’1” {ER-24}
Allen Brown saved his best performance for his last possible home game. Lock ‘Em’ Down Brown was in full effect as his defensive effort gave the fans flash back of last years Cardinal Fanatic defensive player of the year Mike Price. Brown garnished a game high 7 steals. Brown was extremely efficient in other statistical categories as he scored 10 points on 75% shooting below the arc and 50% shooting from beyond the arc. Brown also dropped 4 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds. The 3 year varsity guard had a not so shabby 4-0 assist to turnover ratio.

2) Plainfield – Junior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-19}
Dii’Jon continues to extend his game from the basket. Dii’Jon scored 12 points on 75% shooting from the floor. Dii’Jon also grabbed 4 rebounds and committed 0 turnovers for the game.

3) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-18}
Sears pick the pockets of the Cougars 4 times to combine with Allen Brown for 11 steals for the game. Justin scored a game high15 points on 50 % shooting from the floor and 75% shooting from the free throw line. Justin grabbed (sub-par for Sears standards) 6 rebounds and rejected 1 shot.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.

A Fanatic Summation of the Union County Quarterfinals - Plainfield vs Rahway Game

Plainfield scored 12 field goals below the arc compared to Rahway’s 15 field goals. This gave Rahway a 6 point advantage in 2 point field goals made. Plainfield scored 5 3-pointers compared to Rahway’s 2. This gave Plainfield a 9 point advantage in shooting behind the arc. With only a 3 point advantage for the Cardinals from points scored on the floor, the Cardinals were able win the free throw comparison for the 2nd consecutive game. The Cardinals made 14 free throws compared to Rahway’s 12 which gave the Cardinals a 2 point advantage from the charity line.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Yep its ground hog day, the GLASS! Yep, I am going to sing that song again. When the Cardinals out rebound their opponent their victory percentage increases astronomically. This game proved it due to the sub par shooting (31% from the floor) from the Cardiac Cards. The Cardinals grabbed 42 rebounds compared to Rahway’s 23. The Block Party Crew was at it again. The Cardinals combined for 11 rejections which turned away 22 possible points for the Chiefs from Rahway.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-30}
Justin scored 14 points on 46% shooting from the floor. Sears gave an exhibition on how to use Windex to clean the glass. Justin grabbed a game high 19 rebounds to continue his now expected double-double performance. Sears has more than one department that is dominating the industry. The other department is the interior paint. Sears led the Block Party Crew by swatting a game high 6 rejections.

2) Rahway – Junior Hakeem Kornegay 5’11” {ER-25}
Do not let his size fool you. Kornegay is a gritty competitor. Hakeem scored a game high 22 points on 44% shooting from 2-point range, 33% from 3-point range, and 100% (11-11) from the free throw line. To add to his impressive foul line shooting, Kornegay grabbed 4 rebounds (Myron “Sky Walker” Mayes also with 4 rebounds), picked a team high tying 4 steals (Myron “Sky Walker” Mayes also with 4 steals), and dropped a game high 3 assists.

3) Plainfield – Junior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-15}
Sekou scored 16 points by connecting on 5 3-pointers. Harris was precise from beyond the arc by connecting on 63% of his attempts. Sekou committed only 1 turnover against one of the best pressure defensive teams in the state.

4) Plainfield – Sophomore Denzel Christian 6’6” {ER-15}
Christian is giving the Cardinals another force in the paint by his performance on the glass and defending the interior. His 6 points, with the majority coming from perfect shooting from the foul line (4-4) was much needed to pull off the victory. But his 11 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 rejections were crucial for the Cardiac Cards.

5) Rahway – Senior Myron Mayes 6’3” {ER-9}
The 46’ vertical leaping Mayes is one of the highest leapers in the state. The transfer from Linden also has quickness go along with his jumping ability which helped his team mates almost pull of the upset. Mayes scored 8 points on 50% shooting from the floor. Mayes also had a team high tying 4 steals.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.

A Fanatic Summation of the Union vs Plainfield Game

Plainfield scored 19 field goals below the arc compared to Union’s 15 field goals. This gave the Cardinals an 8 point advantage in 2 point field goals made. Union scored 5 3-pointers compared to the Cardinals 3. This gave Union a 6-point advantage in shooting behind the arc. With only a 2 point advantage for the Cardinals from points scored on the floor, the Cardinals were able win the free throw comparison. The Cardinals made 8 free throws compared to Union’s 5 which gave the Cardinals a 3 point advantage from the charity line.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Seems like I’m singing the same old song, but the GLASS! When the Cardinals out rebound their opponent their victory percentage increases astronomically. The Cardinals grabbed 31 rebounds compared to Union’s 17. I got another song, “WHERE’S THE BLOCK PARTY AT”! The Cardinals combined for 9 rejections (led by Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan’s 4 rejections) which is actually sub par for the Plainfield crew over the last 4 games. The youthful Cards have averaged 10 rejections per game over the last 4 which included Thomas Jefferson (NY) and Linden.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-31}
After a hiatus from his normal double-double performance, Justin expressed through his game, I’m Back!! Justin dropped another double-double performance by scoring a game high 20 points on 67% shooting from the floor while dominating the boards with a game high 14 rebounds. Justin was issued a citation for his participation in the police interrupted block party by adding 2 rejections to his stat line.

2) Plainfield – Junior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-20}
Sekou scored 15 points on 67% shooting below the arc, 50% shooting from beyond the arc, and perfect shooting from the foul line. We are going to have to investigate Harris’s new found vertical as he added 6 rebounds to his stat line and showed his point guard skills by dropping a game high 5 assists.

3) Union – Senior Chris Foreman 6’1” {ER-18}
Chris scored a team high 15 points by hitting 3 shots beyond the arc and hitting perfection by not missing any shots below the arc. Chris also had 3 picks and did not commit a turnover for the entire game.

4) Union – Junior Marcus Carter 6’4” {ER-15}
Carter scored 11 points on 50% shooting from below the arc, connected on his only 3-point attempt of the game, and was perfect (4-4) from the foul line. Marcus also grabbed 4 rebounds.

5) Plainfield – Sophomore Denzel Christian 6’6” {ER-14}
Denzel shot 50% from the floor on only 4 shot attempts. But his other stat lines were impressive. Denzel grabbed 5 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists, and participated in the Block Party with 1 rejection.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.

A Fanatic Summation of the Plainfield vs Hillside Game

Plainfield scored 29 field goals below the arc compared to Hillsides 11 field goals. This gave the Cardinals a 36 point advantage in 2 point field goals made. Hillside scored 4 3-pointers compared to the Cardinals 1. This gave Hillside a 9 point advantage in shooting behind the arc. The Cardinals made 10 free throws compared to Hillside’s 9 which gave the Cardinals a 1 point advantage.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? The Cardinals fluidity of the ball and the total dominance in the paint (distinct height advantage for the Cardinals) gave the Cardinals the advantage they needed for the victory. The Cardinals dropped a combined 20 assists and grabbed a Wilt Chamberlain like 53 rebounds. Senior guard Delano Mullings assumed the roll of the floor general as he dropped a game and personal high 6 assists. The Cardinals had a +35 rebound advantage over Hillside. The Cardinals also combined for 14 rejections which forced Hillside to stick to the perimeter game on the offensive end.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Sophomore Denzel Christian 6’6” {ER-24}
Denzel shot 55% from the field to score 12 points in the game. But Denzel does not just have a famous actor’s name, as it was no act what Denzel did in the interior paint. Christian grabbed 7 rebounds to go along with his game high 7 rejections to fortify the paint for the Cardinals.

2) Plainfield – Junior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-22}
Dii’Jon scored 15 points on 55% shooting from the floor and 100% shooting from the foul line. Dii’Jon is now starting to expand his game as he dropped 5 assist while still grabbing 6 rebounds. Dii’Jon had a 5-1 assist to turnover ratio for the game.

3) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-19}
Justin scored a game high 16 points on 67% shooting from the floor and 100% shooting from the foul line. Justin grabbed 4 rebounds and rejected 1 shot.

4) Plainfield – Junior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-16}
Sekou shot 67% below the arc to score 7 points but the point/shooting guard contributed several key statistical categories to help the Cardinals to victory. The 6’0” guard grabbed 5 rebounds and dropped 4 assists. His high flying block of a shot on a fast break by the Comets shocked the crowd as Harris pinned the shot on the glass.

5) Plainfield – Junior Chad Lewis 6’4” {ER-12}
While Justin, Dii’Jon, Denzel, and Sekou provided the offense, Chad gave Justin a day off from doing the Windex cleaning. Chad grabbed a personal season high and game high 11 rebounds. Chad also did the dirty work that does not show up in the stat line as his defensive intensity limited the Comets offensive output.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.
