Fanatic Summation of the Plainfield vs. Don Bosco Game

Plainfield played a tough game against a very good Don Bosco team. On a scale of 10, the Cards played a 5.3. This ties the lowest rating of the season. The size, athletic ability, and sharp shooting of the Iron Men were a major factor for the Cards lowest rating of the season.

Don Bosco feature a junior stud in 6’5” Vaughn Gray. Good ball handling skills, very good vertical ability, and nice size causes match up nightmares. Vaughn played a Magic like all 5 positions. His strength and quickness make him very hard to defend 1 – 1.

The most disappointing period for the Cards was the 1st. Don Bosco torched the nets from deep. Don Bosco’s Gary Nova could not miss. Nova went 3 – 3 from the three to double up the score over the Cardinals in the 1st period.

The most impressive period for the Cardinals was the 2nd. The Cardinals rebounded from the disappointing near blow out 1st period. Tyrone Johnson dropped 11 points and grabbed 3 rebounds to lead the Cardinal charge to get back in the game.


The Plainfield Fanatic Efficient 5 for the game
1) Don Bosco – Junior Vaughn Gray – 6’5” {ER – 21}
Vaughn was high scorer for the Iron Men. Vaughn scored 21 points, shot 78% from the foul line, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Vaughn has the ability to play any position at the high school level. His ball handling, speed, strength, and size make him a strong guard at the next level.

2) Don Bosco – Junior Gary Nova – 6’2” {ER – 18}
Without Nova 1st half sizzling shooting, the Cards could have won by double digits. Nova shot an accurate 71% from behind the arc. The reserve QB for the #1 high school football team in the Nation made the Cardinals play an honest no help man to man defense. Nova scored 17 points, all in the 1st half.

3) Plainfield – Junior Tyrone Johnson – 6’3” {ER – 16}
Tyrone Johnson leadership skills have snatched victories when defeat was all but the final outcome. Johnson’s game high 26 points led the Cardinals to victory. His clutch foul shooting when the pressure was at its highest peak was clutch.

4) Plainfield – Sophomore Diijon Allen-Jordan – 6’5” {ER – 15}
Diijohn was the hustle point’s winner of this game. Diijohn had the most timely put backs, rebounds, steals and block shots in the final minutes of the game. Without Diijohn hustle and determination the Cardinals would have suffered their first defeat of the season. Diijohn scored 9 points, grabbed a game high 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 rejections.

5) Plainfield – Senior Mike Williams 6’7” {ER – 14}
Mike’s length has disrupted opponents all season. His deceptive quickness gives him the ability to stick smaller opponents on the wing and his length gives him the ability to challenge big men in the paint. Mike’s game high 4 steals along with his game high 3 rejections kept the Cardinals in the game.


The efficient rating was based on shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and turnovers.
