Immaculata vs Plainfield

A Fanatic Summation of the Immaculata vs Plainfield Game

Plainfield won their 2nd consecutive game by defeating Immaculata 59 – 56.

3-point Shooting – Immaculata +12
Immaculata connected on 7 three pointers compared to Plainfield’s 3.
 
Assists – Immaculata +4
Immaculata dished out 12 assists compared to Plainfield’s 8.

Steals – Even
Both teams picked up 8 steals. 

Turnovers – Immaculata +1
Immaculata took better care of the ball by committing 11 turnovers compared to the Plainfield’s 12.

Based on the 3-point shooting, assists, and turnovers, Immaculata should have been in control of the game with a minimal 17-point lead.  The following statistical categories are where the Cardinals were able to win.

Block Shots – Plainfield +7
This was a decisive statistical advantage for Plainfield.  Plainfield was able to turn away a potential 14 points.  Plainfield rejected 7 shot attempts while Immaculata rejected 0 shot attempts.

Free Throw Shooting – Plainfield +7
Plainfield scored 10 points from the free bee-line while Immaculata scored 3.

Points in the Paint – Plainfield +8
Plainfield connected on 20 field goals below the arc/in the paint compared to 16 by Immaculata.

Rebounds – Plainfield +9
Plainfield grabbed 30 rebounds while Immaculata grabbed 21 rebounds.

The Cardinal Fanatic Efficiency Players of the game

1) Plainfield – Sophomore Jachai Simmons 6’6” – {ER-24}
Jachai is looking like he is adjusting to the strength and speed of varsity play.  Simmons shot 60% from below the arc, grabbed a game high 12 rebounds, picked up 2 steals, dropped off a game high tying 4 assists (Immaculata’s Michael Prang also with 4 assists) and 3 rejections.  Jachai completed an efficient night by committing only 1 turnover for the entire game.

2) Plainfield – Senior Denzel Johnson 6’1” – {ER-21}
Denzel seems to be emerging as the un-official leader on the floor.  The senior guard scored a game and career high 19 points on 64% shooting below the arc and 100% shooting from the free throw line.  What was more impressive, Denzel was able to go 4 for 4 down the final 2 ½ minutes of the game from the foul line in a pressure situation.  Denzel filled up the stat sheet by grabbing 3 rebounds, picking up a game high tying 3 steals (Immaculata’s Asiah Avent also with 3 steals) and dropped off 2 assists.

3) Immaculata – Junior Jeremiah Mohommad 6’5” – {ER-21}
Mohommad shot 57% from the field, grabbed a team high 7 rebounds, picked up 2 steals and dished out an assist.  Jeremiah did not commit any turnovers to have a very efficient night.

4) Plainfield – Sophomore Ahmad Baker 6’8” – {ER-20}
With the exception of 1 game, Ahmad has been one of the top efficiency performers of every game in December.  Baker shot 50% from the floor and 75% from the free throw line to score 13 points.  Baker also grabbed 7 rebounds, picked up 1 steal and rejected a game high 4 shot attempts.

5) Immaculata – Senior Tommy Haldeman 6’0” – {ER-13}
Tommy hot shooting had the Spartans within inches of the upset.  Haldeman shot 67% from below the arc, 44% from beyond the arc and was perfect from the foul line to score a team high 18 points.  Tommy grabbed 2 rebounds and only committed 1 turnover for the entire game.

6) Immaculata – Senior Danny Reilly 5’11” – {ER-10}
Reilly shot 50% from below the arc and 100% from 3-point land to score 10 points.  Danny grabbed 1 rebound and dished out an assist.

7) Immaculata – Sophomore Asiah Avent 6’4” – {ER-10}
If the name sounds familiar, well it is.  Asiah is the son of former Shabazz Star Leger All-State, Seton Hall University standout and former NBA player Anthony Avent.  Asiah shot 50% from the floor, grabbed 2 rebounds, picked up 2 steals and dropped off 3 assists.


The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.
