McKee Staten Island Tech (MSIT)
will pay their first visit to Cardinal Country on 12/28 at 7:30 pm. Robeson of Brooklyn was first schedule to
play on Thursday but that game has now been moved to Friday at 7:30 pm.
MSIT will be looking for revenge
in tomorrow night’s match up. MSIT
battled the Cardinals in a competitive game last year before the Cardinals
outscored the school from Staten Island 16-2 in the final 8 minutes of the game
to pull away.
McKee will have an advantage and
disadvantage.
Advantage: McKee is loaded with guards and at times may
use an all guard line up on the floor.
All can shoot from deep. 6’2”
guard Izevbuw Osa-Slayton is an up and coming guard who can play with the best
of them. Izevbuw will team up with
Kareem Martin, who is a leading scorer for McKee along with Izevbuw. Navdeep Singh, Nicolas Maetta and Ryan
Markoe can all shoot from beyond the arc.
Izevbuw and Martin can also launch it from deep but prefer to take it to
the rack. The all guard lineup can press effectively.
Disadvantage: Height.
Plainfield will feature 6’8”, 6’6”, and 6’4” on their front line. The Cardinals are use to playing against
team bigger than them so this will be a different type of game. McKee averages 6’2” across and will have to
be lights out from the outside.
Look for the Cardinals to control
the glass. McKee will more than likely
press and/or play zone on defense and hope to push the ball off of Cardinal
turnovers and miss shot attempts.
Martin and Izevbuw are quick and can push the ball with the best of
them.
