A Fanatic Summartion of the Plainfield vs Westfield Game

Plainfield won the field goals made comparison by +9. Plainfield converted 17 field goals to Westfield’s 8. This is the 2nd consecutive game holding opponents to single digits field goals made. The Cardinals were a +2 in the 3-point conversion comparison. Plainfield converted 4 3-pointers while Westfield converted 2.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Defense Defense and more Defense! Without applying a full court press, the Cardinals played an in your face Mike Price style defense against the Blue Devils. This was missing from the 1st meeting between the two where Westfield lost by only 7 points with a chance to win. This game was different. The Cardinals allowed the Blue Devils only 2 points in the first 9 ½ minutes of the game. The Cardinals grabbed 33 boards, picked up 14 steals, and (the block party continues) rejected 8 shots to solidify their lock down defense.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Junior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-18}
Dii’Jon earns his 2nd consecutive ER player of the game. Dii’Jon scored 8 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, was perfect from the foul line (4-4), picked up a game high 4 steals, and had a game high 4 rejections.

2) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-18}
Justin scored 7 points on 60% shooting from the floor. Justin had a game high 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 rejections

3) Plainfield – Senior Vaughn Anderson 6’3” {ER-13}
Since Vaughn was forced into action several games ago, his impact has been positive for the Cardinals. His long arms and crafty ball handling has helped the Cardinals apply pressure on defense and relieve pressure from opponents full court press. Vaughn scored a career and game high 13 points on 57% shooting from the field, and 50% shooting from 3-point land. Anderson also grabbed 6 rebounds.

4) Westfield – Senior T. Younger 6’0” {ER-13}
Younger led the Blue Devils in scoring with 12 points on 50% shooting from the floor. Younger seemed to adjust to the skin tight defense the Cardinals applied by connecting on 3 consecutive shot attempts including 1 from beyond the 3-point line. Younger also had 3 rebounds and 2 steals while only committing 1 turnover.

5) Plainfield – Junior Jahmal Lane 6’3” {ER-12}
Jahmal continues to be Mr. Steady as he lets the game come to him. Lane was one of only 3 players to score in double digits as he tallied 10 points for the contest. Lane also grabbed 5 rebounds, had 2 steals and rejected 1 shot attempt.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.
