A Fanatic Summation of the Plainfield vs Pocono Mountain West Game

Plainfield won the field goals made comparison by +2. Plainfield converted 19 field goals to Pocono Mountain West’s 17. Pocono Mountain West’s 7’0” center, Kevin Anema had a lot to do with keeping the field goals made so close. His presence in the middle forced the Cardinals to take many difficult shots. The Cardinals were a +2 in the 3-point conversion comparison. Plainfield converted 6 3-pointers while Pocono Mountain West converted 4.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Balance, Balance, and more Balance! Every player that touched the floor for the Cardinals had an impact. The 5 starters, Justin Sears, Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan, Sekou Harris, Jahmal Lane, and Allen Brown all scored in double digits to lead a well balanced attack while Denzel Christian, Phillip Tharpe, Vaughn Anderson and Chad Lewis gave effective productive support off the bench. Actually, the Cardinals are averaging a minimal of 3 players in double digits in nearly all of their games. Without this balance attack, the hot shooting Tynell Fortune and the 7’0” Kevin Anema would have pulled out the victory for Pocono Mt. West.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Pocono Mt. West – Senior Tynell Fortune 5’11” {ER-31}
Tynell “Bombs Away” Fortune put on a shooting exhibition from the free throw line and from behind the arc. The Cardinal Fanatic scouting report new Tynell was a high scorer but his exhibition on Saturday brought back bad memories of Nichols of Cherokee in last years State Championship. The only difference Fortune is a much better shooter. Fortune connected on 4 out of 5 treys from well beyond 23 feet to an astonished the Cardinal crowd. Fortune also connected on 10 out of 11 free throws to lead all scorers in the game with 28 points. Fortune also led the Panthers in rebounds (6) and assists (3).

2) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-31}
Mr. Double-Double was at it again. Sears seems to thrive off of big men. He has a 17 rebound performance against the #1 school in the nation which featured 3 players 6'-8” or bigger. Sears had a 17 rebound effort against the 6’10” Kevin Ferguson of Governor Livingston. Now Sears is making 17 rebounds an average night. Justin grabbed a game high 17 rebounds, scored 12 points on 71% shooting from the floor, dropped 3 assists, and rejected 3 shot attempts.

3) Plainfield – Junior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-21}
Dii’Jon 2 handed stuff off of a Sears behind the back assist had the Cardinal fans off their feet. Dii’Jon and Sears teamed up to hold down the big man for the Panthers. Dii’Jon gave a balance attack as he scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. He also picked up 2 steals, dropped 2 assists, and rejected a game high 5 shot attempts.

4) Plainfield – Senior Allen Brown 6’0” {ER-21}
If it was not for “Lock em Down” Brown ball denial on Tynell Fortune, Fortune could have easily exploded for 40+ points. Once Tynell gave up the ball he did not touch it any more in the Panthers offensive sets. Most of Tynell points came from the foul line or 3 point conversions that were from Reggie Miller area codes. But Allen Brown also was extremely efficient on the offensive side of the ball. Allen switched up his defensive nick name to “Down Town” Brown by converting 67% of his 3 point attempts and was perfect from below the arc to give him 11 points for the game. Brown also picked up 3 steals and dropped a game high tying 4 assists (Sekou Harris & Jahmal Lane also with 4 assists).

5) Plainfield – Junior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-19}
Sekou “Ice” Harris continues to ice games for the Cardinals. Sekou scored a team high 21 points, which 14 points came in the final period. Sekou was as cool as a heart surgeon in the middle of a war zone. Sekou helped the Cardinals pull away in the final period by connecting on 10 out of 11 free throws (92%). Harris also grabbed 3 rebounds, picked up a game high 5 steals, and dropped a game high tying 4 assists

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.
