Fanatic Summation of the Plainfield vs Union Game

Plainfield converted 17 shots below the arc to Union's 10. Union made up ground by connecting 6 3-point shots to Plainfield's 2.

Where did the Cardinals nearly loose this game? Union starting 5 can all shoot the rock. They converted 40% of their 3- point attempts and shot a decent 71% from the free throw line. The Cardinals played them tough with the in your face man to man defense. I believe Union countered this at half time but the Cardinals went to a zone. Union fully obliged by busting the Cards out of their zone defense. Thanks to Chris Foreman (4 for 9) and Chicoziem Ikwuegbu (2 for 4) from behind the arc, the twin zone busters made a remarkable come back. The absence of Dii'Jon "It's not just mustard" Allen-Jordan may have affected both ends of the floor when the Cardinals needed him most.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Defense - Defense - Defense
The Cardinals had 7 rejections to Union's 3. The Cardinals cleaned more windows as they swiped 28 boards off the glass to Union's 22. The Cardinals improved foul shooting (71%) was much needed. Finally, the great play of Vaughn Anderson. The senior reserve was forced into action with the absence of Dii'Jon. Vaughn gave a fine effort on both ends of the floor to help lift the Cardinals to victory.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield - Junior Justin Sears 6'8" {ER-21}
Sears is making any game less than a double-double sub par. Justin rebounded from the St. Anthony's game to drop 11 points on 57% shooting from the floor and just missed a double-double by 1 rebound. Sears also rejected a game high tying 3 shots and dropped 4 assists.

2) Plainfield - Senior Allen Brown 6'0" {ER-16}
Lock "em" Down Brown was instrumental in slowing down the Farmers in the opening period where Union only connected on 1 field goal from the floor. Brown's defense on the Farmers hot shooting Chris Foreman in the finals seconds was big. Brown gave one of his best performances as the senior stepped up for the Cardinals. Allen shot an efficient 67% from the floor on 4 of 6 shooting and knocked down 75% of his free throws (3 for 4). Brown dropped a team high tying 11 points while committing 0 turnovers from his guard position. Allen also had 3 steals to go with his all around performance.

3) Union - Senior Chris Foreman 6'0" {ER-15}
Chris shot 44% from beyond the arc and was perfect from the charity line to score a game high 14 points. Chris also grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 2 assists.

4) Union - Senior Chicoziem "Doz" Ikwuegbu 6'2" {ER-13}
Doz supplemented Chris from the outside by shooting 50% from beyond the arc and shooting perfect from the charity line. Doz also had a game high 4 steals, grabbed 2 boards, and dropped 4 assists. Doz had a 4-1 assist to turnover ratio for the game from the guard position.

5) Union - Senior Nana Ansah 6'0" {ER-12}
Nana shot 60% from the floor and was also perfect from the line to score 8 points. Nana grabbed 4 boards while committing only 1 turnover.
