A Fanatic Summation of the Union County Quarterfinals - Plainfield vs Rahway Game

Plainfield scored 12 field goals below the arc compared to Rahway’s 15 field goals. This gave Rahway a 6 point advantage in 2 point field goals made. Plainfield scored 5 3-pointers compared to Rahway’s 2. This gave Plainfield a 9 point advantage in shooting behind the arc. With only a 3 point advantage for the Cardinals from points scored on the floor, the Cardinals were able win the free throw comparison for the 2nd consecutive game. The Cardinals made 14 free throws compared to Rahway’s 12 which gave the Cardinals a 2 point advantage from the charity line.

Where did the Cardinals win this game? Yep its ground hog day, the GLASS! Yep, I am going to sing that song again. When the Cardinals out rebound their opponent their victory percentage increases astronomically. This game proved it due to the sub par shooting (31% from the floor) from the Cardiac Cards. The Cardinals grabbed 42 rebounds compared to Rahway’s 23. The Block Party Crew was at it again. The Cardinals combined for 11 rejections which turned away 22 possible points for the Chiefs from Rahway.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Junior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-30}
Justin scored 14 points on 46% shooting from the floor. Sears gave an exhibition on how to use Windex to clean the glass. Justin grabbed a game high 19 rebounds to continue his now expected double-double performance. Sears has more than one department that is dominating the industry. The other department is the interior paint. Sears led the Block Party Crew by swatting a game high 6 rejections.

2) Rahway – Junior Hakeem Kornegay 5’11” {ER-25}
Do not let his size fool you. Kornegay is a gritty competitor. Hakeem scored a game high 22 points on 44% shooting from 2-point range, 33% from 3-point range, and 100% (11-11) from the free throw line. To add to his impressive foul line shooting, Kornegay grabbed 4 rebounds (Myron “Sky Walker” Mayes also with 4 rebounds), picked a team high tying 4 steals (Myron “Sky Walker” Mayes also with 4 steals), and dropped a game high 3 assists.

3) Plainfield – Junior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-15}
Sekou scored 16 points by connecting on 5 3-pointers. Harris was precise from beyond the arc by connecting on 63% of his attempts. Sekou committed only 1 turnover against one of the best pressure defensive teams in the state.

4) Plainfield – Sophomore Denzel Christian 6’6” {ER-15}
Christian is giving the Cardinals another force in the paint by his performance on the glass and defending the interior. His 6 points, with the majority coming from perfect shooting from the foul line (4-4) was much needed to pull off the victory. But his 11 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 rejections were crucial for the Cardiac Cards.

5) Rahway – Senior Myron Mayes 6’3” {ER-9}
The 46’ vertical leaping Mayes is one of the highest leapers in the state. The transfer from Linden also has quickness go along with his jumping ability which helped his team mates almost pull of the upset. Mayes scored 8 points on 50% shooting from the floor. Mayes also had a team high tying 4 steals.

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.
