A Fanatic Summation of the Plainfield vs Governor Livingston Game

Where did the Cardinals win this game?
        Free Throw Line – The Cardinals as a team shot an impressive 91% from the free-throw line.  The Cardinals as a team outscored Governor Livingston by 8 free throws made (10 – 2).
        Scoring in the Paint – The Cardinals outscored Governor Livingston by 18 points in the paint.  Ahmid Williams was the catalyst for scoring in the paint as his insertion to the game became contagious.  Ahmid shot 75% down low with his nifty penetration and pull up jumper off the dribble.
        Rebounding – Sophomore Christian Cook grabbed 5 boards to add extra possessions for the Cardinals.  The Cardinals were able to out rebound Highlanders by 14 boards.
        Defense – Held Governor Livingston to 23 total points.  Surprise player of the year to this point for the Cardinals, Edward Anderson, rejected 1 of 7 shots for the Cardinals.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Senior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-24}
Sears shot 50% from the floor and 100% from the free throw line to score a game high 12 points.  Mr. Double-Double lived up to his name by adding 10 boards to his stat line.  Sears also had a game high 6 rejections.  

2) Plainfield – Senior Sekou Harris 6’0” {ER-14}
Harris scored 11 points but surprised the Cardinal Fanatic with his leaping ability.  Harris grabbed 8 boards to just miss a double double and infringe on the copyright of Sears subsidiary, “Mr. Double-Double”.  Harris also dropped off a game high 5 assists and turned in a 5-2 assist to turnover ratio.

3) Governor Livingston – Senior Rendyll Moorman 6’4” {ER-12}
The one time Cardinal resident was not looked upon to score but was efficient when needed to do just that.  Moorman shot 67% from the floor against a stingy defense.  The football standout (quarterback & wide receiver) also grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and did not commit a single turnover.  Moorman’s elder was a former standout basketball player at Montclair who played for NJSIAA Hall of Fame inductee, Coach Bob Lester**.

4) Plainfield – Senior Jahmal Lane 6’4” {ER-11}
Jahmal shot 50% from below the arc and was perfect from the foul line to be one of 3 Cardinals in double digits in scoring.  Lane grabbed 5 rebounds and committed only 1 turnover against a stubborn Governor Livingston defense.

5) Governor Livingston – Senior Victor Candeloro 6’5” {ER-8}
Victor had the dubious task of battling down low with the Plainfield big men.  Candeloro grabbed a team high 6 rebounds and picked up a steal on the defensive end.  Victor was very efficient with the ball, as he did not commit a turnover for the entire game.
 
** Bob Lester is recognize by the Star Ledger as “Coach of the 70’s” and was inducted into the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Hall of Fame in December 2011.


The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.
