A Fanatic Summation of the Union vs Plainfield Game


Where did the Cardinals win this game?

        Points in the paint. The Cardinals was able to outscore Union by 16 points in the paint. Edward Anderson led the way as he scored 8 points on 4 for 4 shooting in the paint. 
        Free throw line.  The Cardinals outscored the Farmers by 11 points on 87% shooting from the foul line.
        Rebounds.  The Cardinals out rebounded the Farmers by 10 rebounds.  Denzel Johnson grabbed 4 boards from his guard position.
        Assists.  Plainfield dished out 11 assists compared to Union’s 2.  Sekou Harris dished out 3 assists.
        Block shots – The Block Party continues.  The Cardinals rejected 11 shots. 
        Perimeter Defense – Union shot 21% from the 3-point line.

Cardinal Fanatic Efficient 5

1) Plainfield – Senior Justin Sears 6’8” {ER-31}
Dr. Double-Double scored a team high 15 points on 90% shooting from the foul line.  Sears also grabbed a game high 15 rebounds.  But to earn an efficiency rating over 30, an excellent all around game is necessary.  Justin added to his statistical performance by getting 2 steals, 2 assists, and 3 rejections.  All this activity and Sears committed only 1 turnover for the entire game. 

2) Plainfield – Senior Jahmal Lane 6’4” {ER-21}
Jahmal shot 50% from below the arc and was perfect from the free throw line to score 13 points.  Lane also grabbed 2 boards and dropped an assist.  But Mr. Too Long Lane was a monster on the defensive side of the ball.  Jahmal had a game high 4 steals to go along with his game high 5 rejections.  Jahmal was very efficient with the ball, as he had no turnovers for the entire game.

3) Plainfield – Senior Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan 6’6” {ER-14}
Dii’Jon scored 7 points but it was not his scoring output that got him on the efficiency-rating list.  Dii’Jon gave an all around statistical performance.  He grabbed 5 rebounds, 3 steals, had a game high 4 assists, and 2 rejections.

4) Union – Senior Jalel Chain 6’0” {ER-11}
Jalel was a relentless player taking the roc to the basket.  Chain made many baskets whose difficulty level was off the charts.  Chain was able to penetrate and score on the Plainfield big men.  Chain scored a game high 16 points on 67% shooting below the arc and perfect shooting from the foul line. Jalel only committed 2 turnovers from his guard position.

5) Union – Senior Marcus Carter 6’5” {ER-11}
Marcus has been one of the corner stones of the Union basketball program.  Marcus battle amongst the Plainfield big men as he missed a double double by one point and one rebound.  Carter scored 9 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, had 3 steals and rejected 1 shot.  Carter only committed 2 turnovers for the entire game.

 

The efficiency rating is base on points scored, shooting accuracy, foul shooting accuracy, rebounds, assists, steals, defensive intensity, and assist – turnover ratio.
